Thinking about documentary evidence tonight and how I’ve never said (that I recall) that “my ancestors didn’t own slaves” because I really know fuck-all about them?? For more recent ones I have things like copies of birth and death and marriage certificates. For older… family bible entries and town names… Some professions. But that doesn’t actually TELL me anything. I know they didn’t have huge plantations but 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️On twitter.com
